Knife-Edge

Sometimes when I'm waiting for the bus and I've been standing at the stop for half an hour I think to myself, fuck this for a laugh I almost wish I'd taken the car And then I remember environmental reasons ajourney for one person is a shocking waste of fuel, so I take a look around me at all the other drivers, racing off to work and taking kids to school. There's rubbish on the pavements and there's filth in the air, the trees are black and withered and the street lights need repair. There's a mugger round the corner, suspicion everywhere, and I think to myself

Some thoughts on a sunny day
An irritating tic that wouldn't go away
Driving me round the bend
I tried to kick the images out of my brain
But they decided to stick around and be a pain
Jingle jangle, nerves on a knife-edge, making me go insane
Jingle jangle, nerves on a knife-edge, making me go insane

Knife- Edge

Walking in the sunshine to the end of the street
Tin cans and other litter under my feet
Chewing gum stuck to my shoe
I tried to scrape it off on the edge of a drain
But is decided to stick around and be a pain
Jingle jangle, nerves on a knife-edge, making me go insane

Knife- Edge

I think I'm going mad I think I'm going maaad

Knife- Edge

Went to a gig and heard a punk rock star sing
In the taxi coming home my ears started to ring
Whistling in my head, whistling in my head
Doctor said the tinnitus would go in a day
But it decided to stick around and give me pain

Jingle jangle, Nerves on a knife-edge
